Careers Education
Vision:
Raising aspirations is the status quo.
Intent:
Provide a stable careers programme where all students are provided with the opportunity to prepare for their transition into the world of work. Raise their aspirations, improve social mobility, develop key employability skills, and enhance knowledge of local and national labour market information, so our students could make better informed choices for their next steps.
Implementation:
Careers is delivered as part of the spiral curriculum once a term during extended tutor time and during Character Development Day (CDD). There are a series of workshops that take place throughout the year for secondary children and post 16. In year 10 students receive specialist one to one career advice. There are university visits and many opportunities for employer/employees encounters through assemblies and via subjects. Students experience careers fair, and different personnel that provide advice about various pathways post 14, 16 and 18. All encounters are from a diverse range of people to ensure inclusivity. Student Bulletin is differentiated to meet the needs of KS4/5 students providing information on a range of apprenticeships, vacancies, work experience and many more. Ensure website is up to date for all stakeholders to be aware of the stable programme and careers journey of their child/ren
